Erster Ausflug / First trip

Da die anderen drei Freiwilligen aus dem Programm schon länger in Sansibar sind, hatten sie für das letzte Wochenende einen Ausflug auf eine andere Insel geplant. Da die Schule erst im Januar anfängt, habe ich mich gleich angeschlossen. Mit der Fähre sind wir nach Pemba gefahren. Pemba bildet zusammen mit Unguja Sansibar. Ich lebe auf Unguja. Pemba ist noch nicht so lang für den Tourismus geöffnet, was man auch gleich spürt. Die Insel ist sehr grün, viele Bananenstauden. Hauptexportgut sind Nelken, überall riecht es danach.

Von dort aus sind wir mit einem Holzboot zu den Misali Island gefahren. Ein Naturreservat, die Insel ist unbewohnt und wird geschützt.

The other volunteers already planned a trip to another island. And as the school is just starting in January, I decided to go with them. We took the ferry Pemba. Pemba is one part of Zanzibar, the other part is Unguja, where I live. Pemba is not open for tourism for that long, what you can see on the island. The island is very green, a lot of banana trees. Main export is gloves, you can smell it everywhere.

From Pemba we took the boot to Misali Island. Nobody is living there, it is an protected area. The pictures tell their own story…
